Speaking practice on our site requires a microphone (on your computer, tablet or phone) and the microphone needs to be allowed. If you're having issues with this, read this article.
If you cannot hear your voice during the recording, that would suggest that your voice is not recorded, and you should make sure that your browser and device allows use of a microphone.
The platform will support voice recording, as long as your local browser, device and microphone settings would support and allow it. Our recommendation would be to use the latest version of Google Chrome if you are practicing from a browser. You should also make sure that you are on a stable Internet connection, as these activities would require a faster connection.
You should also make sure that audio levels for the microphone are set loud enough, in your system settings, and also make sure that your microphone is allowed in your browser settings. If you did not make this decision in your browser before, the browser should ask you to allow the microphone at the beginning of the test, for example Chrome browser will ask this:
Before you start Speaking test, there will be the initial step where you can check your microphone. There are no questions and no videos in this step, and you can say whatever you wish. Make sure to complete this step.
Once you confirmed that you can hear your voice, you can click to continue to the next step, where you will first play teacher's video to hear the question, and then click on the button below the microphone when you are ready to record your answer:
Before doing the Speaking test, make sure you are in a silent environment, where no external noise would interfere with your recordings.
