There is no pass mark for IELTS.
The IELTS exam is an English language level test. You will get a band score in four skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing) and an overall score. This score will be between 0 and 9, and it represents your English level. You cannot 'pass' or 'fail'.
However, most people take IELTS for a reason. This could be:
- to get a work or residence visa for an English-speaking country
- to get a place at a university
- to get a job
The organisation which requires you to take the IELTS exam will have IELTS requirements. For example, if you are applying for a BA degree programme in the UK, some universities might ask you for a minimum of 6.5 overall, with no less than 6.0 in any individual skill.
It is very important that you find out what your required IELTS score is.
