In the IELTS test, you are given a score between 0-9 for each of the four skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing). You are also given an overall score of between 0-9, which is an average of your score in the four separate skills.
Your overall score will be rounded up to the nearest 0.5.
So, for example, you might score:
- Speaking: 7
- Listening: 7
- Reading: 6
- Writing: 5
- Overall: 6.5 (average of 6.25 rounded up to 6.5)
It's important you know what your overall target score is, and if you need a minimum score in the four skills. Different organisations, universities and visa authorities have different IELTS requirements.
