It's important to do as much reading practice as you can. This includes IELTS practice questions, but also reading generally to improve your familiarity with texts in English, and to improve your vocabulary.
The main skills you need to develop are:
- The ability to quickly find useful information in texts
- The ability to quickly identify the general meaning of parts of a text
- The ability to understand the meaning of unfamiliar words from context
- Familiarity with all types of IELTS Reading question and how to answer them
- Having a wide enough vocabulary to understand the general meaning of most texts
The most important thing is that you do as much IELTS Reading practice as you can. Try to set yourself goals for how much practice you can do each week.

You should also read articles and texts from other sources, as a way of expanding your vocabulary. One good activity is to read an article, then try to write a short summary using keywords from the text. You should also consider keeping a vocabulary notebook to make a note of new words you learn from reading and listening.
